Strap yourselves in, boys and girls, because things are about to get very, very bloody and very, very strange. Tokyo Gore Police sees a future Tokyo plagued by a bio-mechanical virus, taking the form of a key-shaped tumor in its host’s body, and a general homicidal psychosis. Infected persons are known as “Engineers” for their ability to manufacture weapons out of their flesh wounds. Our heroine, Ruka (Eihi Shiina, Audition), a female member of the city’s privatized police force, is tasked with tracking down and eradicating such engineers. This film throws out the rule book entirely and sees just how much lunacy per minute they can load into one film.

As far as its shock and gore factor is concerned, Tokyo Gore Police is unequaled. Blood flows like Texas rain throughout, while lopped off limbs are piled higher than the mind can fathom. In the body mutation realm, the film proudly exhibits a penis gun, a massive vagina trap, a retracting chainsaw, teeth-boobies, organic bullets and much, much more.

Tokyo Gore Police is clever yet still absurd and I absolutely adored it. It is what it set out to be, and it achieved it better than I expected. Goofy dialogue and spurting fruit punch blood is only the beginning. There is so much more to this film and I can’t say enough positives. This movie is an unapologetic feast of depravity. Just to give you an idea of what you’ll be dealing with should you decide to see Tokyo Gore Police, the first seven minutes alone will feature fully FOUR scenes involving fountains of blood.

However, it’s important to point out that this is director Yoshihiro Nishimura’s first film, and some basic indulgences and general foot finding are to be expected. While these elements proved a bit tiresome, Nishimura nonetheless demonstrates a recognizable competence as a filmmaker.  No, this isn’t Citizen Kane folks. Take this film as it is. This may be my new standard of weird in Japanese horror filmmaking. Slightly Recommended.

Hahahaha. Sounds great, and that shot above I think kind of sums up what to expect. I love oddball movies.

Caught this one at a film festival and was blown away. I had watched Machine Girl before this and Yoshihiro Nishimura had worked on that one as well so I kind of knew what I was in for.
What amazes me was that this was shot in two weeks. Quite an impressive feat!

Saw this at the local film-festival Cinemare, where the idea is to show horror-films all night long. At midnight with 3 movies already watched, this movie was extremely funny and entertaining to watch. If you don’t take it too seriously it’s a good piece.
