In the spirit of broadening my audience a little bit more, I’ll tackle a romantic comedy today. 100 Days with Mr. Arrogant begins when Kim Jae Won had a car accident because Han Ji Won kicked a can at him. Since the girl is so young without money to pay for the damages of the car they decided to have a contract that will bind them for 100 days. Then, the nightmare of tortures and slavery begins. She does everything from him from cleaning his house, assisting him in while he shops, doing all the chores, cleaning his car and even writing his school reports. She eventually figures out that Hyung-Joon lied about the price for fixing the car and eventually seeks revenge.

There was excellent pacing, and not a single dull moment between the silly comedy and sad dramatic parts. Even though the ending was completely predictable, I found this movie to be quite fun to watch. The actual romanticism part of this movie was contrived but it is a light hearted film and I took it as such. But at the very least, the romance is still endearing.

This is the type of movie I wouldn’t mind watching over and over again. It really is one of the most forgettable, but at the same time, even flowed film I’ve seen. It will most likely not leave a lasting impression but it does entertain. It’s is a cookie cutter rom-com and its ideas are not particularly inspired, but the film finds its magic in the characters, actors and premise. Most of the movie is comedy oriented but the movie takes a drastic turn near the end and becomes more serious and quite sad.

Those expecting another ‘My Sassy Girl’ will sure be disappointed, but 100 Days with Mr. Arrogant is still a good movie and will sure please fans of the genre. Since the chances of being surprised by the ending is zero, I was glad I at least laughed until the inevitable formulaic conclusion. Directed by Sin Dong-yeop I think he does a good job with what he has to work with. As a whole, I can’t rank this high because of its low brow humor and the predictable script, but make no doubt about it, this film is a fun movie to watch with your girlfriend.

i’ve seen this film a couple of years ago and was beginning my exploration into korean comedy romance…i gotta say, this one is one of my favorites. the characters are usually harsh and brash and then later on you find them falling in love with each other only to find out something that would stop them but in the end, love saves the day….watch it, its pretty darn funny and the lead actress turns into a butterfly in the end…pretty!

Not every film can reach the heights of My Sassy Girl, but this romantic comedy is still a gem. Sure, it’s formulaic, but the whole point of the film is to make you laugh.
