It has been many episodes since we have brought to you the likes of a professional model, and it is long overdue. We present Miss Topline 2009, Miss Treasure Island 2009 & Miss Redline Pahrump 2010, Genevieve Chanelle! Genevieve’s driven spirit and perseverance only pushes her to strive for better. Her positive open mind and versatility allows her the willingness to experience and try anything at least once. A woman with attainable goals in mind, she only wishes to expand and grow in every aspect. Which makes her the perfect candidate for the spotlight. Read below for the full interview…

Genn, tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started modeling.

Genevieve: Hmm.. where to start? [Laughs]  I’m an Aquarius, that’s one thing. Aquarians are independent, original, loyal and love to try anything at least once. ;) I’m a full time student, business woman, fitness enthusiast, child advocate and lastly, a model. Obviously I love to keep myself busy [laughs].  But, I LOVE spending time with my family, friends and church.

As for modeling, I started when I was in highschool. I started super conservative and told myself that I wouldn’t do this or that. Believe it or not, I used to be a pretty sheltered girl, but I slowly came out of my nutshell. I still am conservative and am very grounded; My body is a temple and I respect it. You don’t have to be naked to be sexy. That’s what I wanted to show when I started modeling.

I am aware you do a variety of print work, runway, tradeshows, pageants, hostings and music videos. What is the most fun to do? Which is the most stressful?

All gigs are different but have the same level of excitement and adventure. I love doing them all! There are all also equally stressful. There’s a lot of maintenance, competition, drama, and politics in the industry. You have to be very careful. That’s why I try to be cool with everyone. One important thing is you can’t stop hustling. Your hustle determines how far you go.

You said you prefer to keep things ‘classy yet sexy’. Could you explain a bit about achieving this process?

Genevieve: Kill ‘em with class. Like I mentioned, you don’t have to get down and naked to take a sexy picture. A lot of times, it’s all in the face: the eyes, the lips, the expression, that makes a photo sexy. Don’t put it all out there, leave ‘em guessing.

Do you have any fashion shows planned out for the duration of 2011?

Genevieve: I’m working on hosting for F.A.M.E. again this year. That’ll be dope. Either way, I like to walk the runway. Fierce! Fierce! FIERCE!!

How is your Biological Sciences studies coming along? Do you find it hard to juggle college with your modelling career?

Genevieve: With cups of Starbucks at hand, it’s a no-brainer. I’m just kidding. It’s very difficult to juggle school and modeling. At the end of the day, you got to remember your REAL dream. Mine is to help people.

We recently interviewed Mike Ho, how was it like being directed by him?

Genevieve: Mike Ho is my brother! I love that dude. A lot of people in the industry get it twisted about me and him, but he’s purely family. Every single time I’m on set with Mike, it’s all fun. We can say anything to each other and we definitely look out for each other. He knows my angles, looks and and is always on the same page with me when it comes to crazy ideas. We make a great brother/sister team.

When you aren’t busy, how do you unwind in the Bay Area?

I curl up in bed and watch one of my favorite shows recordings, Monk! [Laughs] For anyone who knows what that is, you just earned 10 cool points with me. I also love massages. I think I need one right about now…Any volunteers?

Hey! This is a film site, so give us the lowdown on your favorite Asian films.

Genevieve: Would it be a crime if I said I don’t watch TV (except for Monk) and have fallen off my movie game? [Laughs] But whenever I see a show/movie with an Asian-American star, I definitely support it. I LOVE seeing my people out there and more exposed in the Hollywood game. We need more of that.

Tell us about working as an Import Model (cars)?

[Laughs] I don’t like considering myself as an “import model.” I’m a model that does import modeling, but not strictly just that. But I do LOVE the import scene. The people and events are amazing and I’m always having fun. I admit, I do prefer muscle cars a bit more. And I like my men like I like my cars: strong and built like horses [smiles].
