Hong Kong, a city shaped by its many layers and historical complexities. Describe a bit about what type of designer you are and how your talent fits into the mold of the city itself.
Today as a Graphic Designer [it] should be not just for Graphics. I think to continue to learn something of Graphic Design outside knowledge, it may fit into the mold of the city itself.
I’m familiar with design practices in the West, but what is it like working in HK? Hong Kong’s historical position as an entrepôt also means that what is “local” could also be a “foreign” concept first brought up through global exchange but embedded in local practices.
Actually, Hong Kong British Colony in 1997 return to China after, the culture has big changes. The Hong Kong people [are] very aware of the “local” conscious. I often question myself, what is HONG KONG LOCAL CULTURE? Perhaps, Chinese and Western cultures and people of Hong Kong down to earth and East culture, come out as a “LOCAL”CULTURE, so I went back to my main language, designed the Chinese words, and also I was learning Chinese ink drawing; back to original CHINESE Culture. I think that mix culture will attract global attention.
I ask, because I see straight forward work in your portfolio for clients such as Coca-Cola, but then I see less constrictive work such as your illustrations. Do you gravitate more towards illustration or design?
I do not fix my creative methods and possibilities.
You stated in your biography that design itself can help improve peoples lives. Are you at all interested in product or industrial design?
Design itself improves your lives each part, for example: Apple the product can be changing your lives or life, even Graphic Design also hiding changes your lives. Everywhere is design.
