Soundless Wind Chime – Review

Soundless Wind Chime – Review

Soundless Wind Chime is the story of Ricky who leaves Hong Kong for Switzerland to find the lost soul and the past of his dead lover, Pascal. Director Hung has apparently been working on the film for five years, and it shows, however at close to 2 hours long, the movie still manages to oversimplify some of the details of the relationship. She, a Chinese – Review

She, a Chinese – Review

She, A Chinese is divided into a lengthy list of chapters that so many other character pieces revolve around which depict the slow exposure of a someone’s flaws. It doesn't do anything new but does keep things interesting. This is an engaging, impressively directed yet lazily acted which is good enough for a passing grade. Click to read the full review...

Gravity’s Clowns – Review

Gravity’s Clowns – Review

The plot is definetely adult orientated and tackles some pretty strong themes. For what the script demands from them, however, the actors do a terrific job. Gravity's Clowns is a haunting tale about a Japanese family where a current series of graffiti events paves the way to unraveling an unexpected family truth. This is one of the best mystery films I have seen in recent years. Click to find out why...

Battlefield Baseball – Review

Battlefield Baseball – Review

Battlefield Baseball follows the Seido High School baseball team as they must face their rivals at Gedo High, a team made up entirely of zombies. Most of the gags in this movie are totally unnecessary, the characters are terrible, the plot is worse. In short, best movie ever! Click to read the full review of this bizarre Japanese flick...

Jade Warrior – Review

Jade Warrior – Review

Jade Warrior a rare combo of Finnish folklore and Chinese martial arts and it may sound like a martial arts epic and at times even resemble one, but don't be fooled, it is bargain bin material. It is passable due to the fact that it is a production I have never witness so it gets points for uniqueness. Click to read my full review...

Hear Me – Review

Hear Me – Review

I think Hear Me is one of those movies that people will either love or hate. It follows Yang Yang and her elder sister who are born with hearing disabilities and they communicate using sign language in their daily lives. It is also an unpretentious, sweet little film about two teenagers experiencing the excitement of love. Click to read the full review of this romantic comedy from Taiwan...

Shogun Assassin – Review

Shogun Assassin – Review

Quite simply, if you like these kinds of movies, there is no way you won't like this one. The actors chosen are intentionally ethnic Japanese in order to better represent accuracy of this story to the viewers. I found Shogun Assassin to be not only an incredibly bloody action ride, but an awesome flick. Classic filmmaking at its finest...

Haeundae – Review

Haeundae – Review

Fresh off the heels of seeing 2012 with John Cusack I was intrigued on how an Asian disaster movie might fare. Haeundae is at least as good as any of the best American disaster movies. I actually think it is better as it breaks the typical American disaster movie formula in many interesting ways, which I have to give credit to the director for putting in the effort...

Robogeisha – Review

Robogeisha – Review

Ah, the timid story of a simple Geisha, whoops, wrong movie. This one stabs men in the eyes with fried shrimp; she has a chainsaw mouth; she transforms into a car; and much much more. Robogeisha is another twisted film from the people that brought you Machine Girl and Tokyo Gore Police. Click to find out if it belong in the same league as its predecessors...
